QUALITY INSPECTOR – FABRICATION, WELDING, & MACHINING:
​
Youngberg Industries is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Industrial Shop Maintenance Assistant to join our team.
​​
This full-time day shift position reports directly to the Quality Manager. This position is responsible for in-process and final visual/dimensional inspection functions of steel fabrications, piping, pressure vessels, and finished machined parts. Working conditions are mainly in a shop environment, with a small percentage of time spent in an office environment. Exposure to possible shop hazards including but not limited to welding fumes, heat, flash burns, skin burns, high noise level and eye injuries from welding arc and grinders, as well as industrial machinery, and fork truck traffic. Physical requirements include periods of standing, walking, climbing, and bending, with minimal heavy lifting. Working at heights or in tight spaces may be required at times.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform, witness, and document various visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections and ensure that all required specifications are followed. Work independently with minimal supervision and utilize time management skills to prioritize tasks. Read and interpret blueprints and drawings. Interact with production and engineering personnel.
JOB QUALIFICATION / REQUIRED SKILLSET:
High School graduate or GED equivalent. Relevant trade/vocational schooling is a plus.
Strong math skills with an understanding of basic Trigonometry and Geometry.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully interact with shop, engineering, customer, vendor, and supervisory personnel daily.
Experience in the steel fabrication and machining industry.
Experience as a Quality Inspector highly desirable.
Ability to use precision measuring devices such as calipers, thread gauges, dial bore gauges, micrometers, etc.
Ability to utilize general computer software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Prior experience with ERP software (Epicor) is a plus.
Must possess extremely strong blueprint reading skills and knowledge of GD&T.
CMM operating experience with PC-DMIS and Keyence program familiarity is a plus.
General knowledge of various codes, NDE techniques, welding, fabrication, inspection processes, material types and usage is a plus.

Starting pay ranging from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour commensurate with applicant experience.
